Description
Bartók, Béla: Original photograph of Béla Bartók – Pozsony, [1886], Mindszenty. 118×65 mm – Bónis 20. (Béla Bartók: Pictures of a Life. 2016.) The first photograph of Béla Bartók. The cabinet card bears the blind-embossed word “REPRODUCTION” below the image. As the mount is unquestionably contemporary and the reverse advertises that the original negative (“plate”) was retained for subsequent orders, this is most likely a contemporary studio reprint produced from the original negative by the photographer, rather than a later reproduction. Nice condition. Extremly rare.
